Welcome To Fellow Campers

2011 has been quite a good year with a few ups and downs. I believe the committee has made some good decisions throughout the year to enable all campers to have a good time at any of the Leicestershire DA meets.

It is AGM time again in March and I hope that we have the same response as last year’s AGM. Our Treasurer (Valda) is still looking to stand down from the committee due to other commitments, so we are looking for a new Treasurer to take her place. If anyone would like to take this role on I’m sure Valda would give them any help, advice & support that they need.

It’s been quite a task for our Sites Officer who has the job of finding all the sites throughout the year and due to the recession, which I’m sure everyone’s feeling, she has negotiated the best deals that she could for the DA. She has managed to obtain a nice site in North Wales for a new THS and another new THS for 2012 is Oaklands at Chapel St Leonards. I do hope you will all support these new THS sites. She has also managed to find a few other new sites for weekend meets in 2012, again I hope that you will support as many as you can.

Over the past 12 months the DA has had a lot of first time DA campers’ camp with Leicestershire DA and I hope that they have felt very welcome. I try to have a chat with all new campers and to let them know what sort of things that the DA has to offer. We have also had a lot of members opt over to Leicestershire DA from other DA’s, so in my mind we must be doing something right.

We once again have managed to obtain stewards for all the meets for 2012, but remember if you would like to steward a meet for 2013 look out on the Leicestershire DA’s website later on in 2012 to see when the steward sheet is going up. I will try to get it as near to August as I possibly can.

As you most probably know by now, we have moved the 2012 Anniversary meet, this is because it’s Leicestershire DA’s turn to host the Central Counties Regional Meet in June and it would not be wise or beneficial to Leicestershire DA to have two rather big meets at the same venue in such a short period of time (Not forgetting the hassle and hard work that goes in these meets) So we have moved our 52nd Anniversary meet to Whetstone Gorse, but we have a limited number of Units that can attend this meet, so we have made it a fully booked meet for this year. So don’t forget if you want to come to the Anniversary Meet, please make sure you book as early as possible. You will find the Booking form & Flyer on the Leicestershire DA’s website.

I would like to thank all the committee, Colin, Dawn, Anita, Garry, Neat, Richard, Louise, Valda and not forgetting the newly appointed Simon & Jim for all their hard work and for supporting me over the last 12 months, I would also like to thank Lance, Lisa, Julie & Wayne for all their hard work, because remember without a committee there would be no meets for you to go to. I would also like to thank Dave Cooper for being President over the last 12 months and for all the help he has given to the DA.

Last but not least, I would like to thank all the stewards that have steward a meet throughout 2011, remember because without a steward the meet would have to be cancelled. Don’t forget if you see me on the Camping field, please come and have a chat, "I don’t bite" so on the last note keep checking the Leicestershire DA web site for all up to date information and if you have any tales to tell or a celebration or even photo’s of any of the meets you attend please feel free to send them to the Webmaster (by the way that’s me) and I will make sure that they go on the Website.
