Chairman Chat

2012 was a bit up and down with some meets having to be cancelled due to the weather. I believe the committee have made some good decisions throughout the year to enable all campers to have a good time at any of the Leicestershire DA meets.

    It was Leicestershire DA’s turn to host the Central Counties Regional Meet in 2012, but once again after all the organisation the weather beat us yet again eventually leading to the Marquee falling down and with other Central County DA’s holding different events at the same time this of course led to a lack of members attending. But after all that the weekend went quite well with Leicestershire DA coming joint winners of the Mardi Gras & Runners up in the Volleyball tournament.

     Its AGM time again in March and due to people dropping from the committee we will need some support from you. Valda our Treasurer will be standing down this year and I do think she deserves a well earned rest because she has been doing the Treasurer’s job for the last 6+ years, but a bit of good news we have managed to find another Treasurer who will be taking over the roll for 2013/14.

     The sites books have been printed for this year and I’m pleased to announce that we have stewards for every meet for 2013, so I would like to thank all of them. The sites for 2014 are in the process of being arranged and I hope that when the Stewards sheets go up in August 2013 we will have the same response as we had this year, the stewards sheets will be going up sometime in August 2013 (Please keep your eye on the web site for the date). If you have never stewarded a meet, why not give it a try and If you have any doubts please feel free to contact me or any committee member for advice.

      Again in 2012 we have had a lot of 1^st time camper’s camp with the DA and I hope they have all felt very welcome; we have also had a lot of campers opt over to Leicestershire DA too.

      The 53^rd Anniversary meet moves back to Lyndon Top at Rutland water for 2013 and I feel we have a very good theme with “A WEEKEND AT THE RUTLAND PALADIUM” so why not come along and join in the fun. If you want to perform in the Leicestershire DA show please contact the Entertainments officer asap. If you wish to book for this weekend you will find a Booking form in this book or you will be able to download one from the website.

       I would like to thank all the committee that have served over the past 12 months Colin, Shelia, Dawn, Richard, Louise, Valda, Simon, Marcell, Jackie, Craig, Vi & Roy. But remember without a committee there would be no meets for you to enjoy.

       I would also like to thank Dave Cooper who at the AGM will have completed his 2^nd year as President, and I think he has done a fantastic job over the last 2 years.
